Meet Gayatri, Bizink’s UK Representative.

This year we’ve been showcasing our fantastic team, to help our clients, partners, and friends get to know the faces behind the websites. This month, we interviewed Gayatri Wood.

Introducing Gayatri

Tell us about yourself

“I spent most of my life in Wellington, New Zealand until 2013 when I moved to Sydney and then onto the UK. My Dad’s a kiwi, and my Mum is from Delhi, India, which to answer the question I get asked the most – is where my name comes from.”

Where are you based?

“I’m based in Newcastle, UK. I’ve been in the UK since 2015 and love it here. I especially love the North East. There’s so much history and beauty here, the castle, coast and national parks are stunning.  My grandfather is from the UK, and a big part of why I came over was I wanted to trace my ancestry. Shortly after arriving, I found out my great grandmother grew up 45 minutes away from where I was living!”

What is your role at Bizink?

“I’m an ambassador for the UK and help accountants understand how Bizink can help them. I first came across Bizink over five years ago and loved the team and products. Since then, I’ve always kept in touch and involved in some way. As both marketing and technology are such fluid areas, I love how Bizink adapts and evolves with the changes. How the products work together is so well thought through.”

What do you do in your spare time?

“We rescued two kittens from a local shelter; a lot of my time goes to caring for them. Aside from that, you’ll find me at the gym most days, watching sport, and I’m always up for trying a new restaurant or wine bar. I love exploring new cities, and most holidays are spent seeing somewhere new. I will happily go anywhere.”

What was your first paying job?

“If we count pocket money, my first paying job was helping my Dad at his cafe/restaurant when I was a wee girl after school. I loved going there after school and talking to the customers and staff. I saw the highs and lows of running a business from an early age and am really grateful to have had that exposure so early on. It shaped my work ethic and taught me a lot about customer experience.”

What’s your secret skill?

“I can play two instruments – the violin and drums. The violin I learnt from about age 7 and the drums from a teenager as I thought they were a lot cooler than the violin.”
