I asked Jamie Beresford from Practice Protect, what would you like your accountant to start, stop and keep doing?

Start: Jamie would like his accountants to be more proactive. Specifically, understanding where he’s at in his personal financial journey and aware of the challenges he’s facing. He feels clients often make decisions independently and involve their accountants after the fact. Jamie believes that accountants would benefit from a more active role in understanding their clients’ financial situations and empathising with their needs.

Stop: Loads of emails! He mentions that many workflow tools used by accountants generate numerous emails. These emails often come from different team members with whom he has no relationship. This is confusing and makes him hesitant to respond or act on these emails.

Keep: On a positive note, Jamie appreciates that his accountant is efficient in handling compliance tasks and getting them done. He also values the fact that they offer reasonably priced services. These aspects are important to him and he recommends that accountants continue to maintain this level of service.
